At the outset of Covid-19, adapting to the change has become a new mantra. Earlier, when hotels could not divert themselves from providing an extra inch of luxury to its guests, the Covid-19 outbreak has made the industry do the drill on finding various other sources of revenue generation. From delivering star-restaurant food to the doorstep to getting laundries done, the Indian hospitality industry has recently started adapting work from hotel format to attract guests in.

Some hoteliers anticipate that as the offices remain shut for a long time, work from hotel or workstation can be the next emerging trend which hotels should tap in. The work from home notion has created a huge demand in the market for dedicated workstations to simplify the work process without any hindrance from internal factors. And the hospitality industry stepped in to meet this demand.

“We believe that the trend is here to stay until mid-2021 due to the stringent cleaning protocols that are being strictly followed by the hotel groups. This factor alone has hugely motivated the guest from renting out hotel spaces as their workstation,” said Atul Upadhyay, Vice President Operations, Pride Hotels Ltd.

The Westin Gurgaon, New Delhi recently forayed into this segment announcing the launch of its premium luxury co-working spaces at the hotel. The hotel has been receiving inquiries from start-ups and companies that have given up their offices and now seek flexibility for their workspace.

“The growing concerns surrounding the pandemic have made companies seek safer co-working spaces with greater emphasis on hygiene and sanitization, and the trust on five-star luxury spaces with enhanced safety and hygiene protocols will obviously be more,” said Rahul Puri, Multi-Property General Manager for The Westin Gurgaon, New Delhi The Westin Sohna Resort and Spa.

Tapping the growing need, ibis India also introduced Work@ibis across all its properties in India, providing a safe, alternative working space to individuals and organizations looking to work remotely. “Our trendy, vibrant workspaces are conducive to fueling innovation, productivity, and meaningful collaboration and at the same time adhere to the safety and hygiene standards. We are working with corporates and businesses to offer personalized solutions to meet their requirements,” Sylvain Laroche, Director of Operations, ibis and ibis Styles India said.
