Yatra Is Going To Open Soon: UK's Government!

Comments · 1029 Views

Even though the Uttarakhand Government has extended the Covid-19 restrictions for another week as of now, the Chardham yatra, a crucial religious as well as tourism event in the state may be allowed to go ahead soon.

“The government representative assured us that the Yatra will be allowed in a week or ten days time after completing the preparations as per the guidance of the High Court,” said Ashuthosh Sharma, President of Hotel Association of Haridwar.

People's income is heavily dependent on these activities and blocking them will stifle the life of millions of people, Sharma said. He said that the state should remove the travel restrictions including the mandatory RT-PCR negative certificate imposed on visitors to the State.

Speaking after the completion of the two-day march from Haridwar to Dehradun to press for the demands of the travel and tourism industry, Mr. Sharma said that Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister, Mr. Ganesh Joshi—who is in charge of Minister of Soldier Welfare, Industrial Development, MSME, Khadi and Village Industries—had given the delegate an assurance in this regard.

In the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister at the end of March, the confederation of the industry has said that, unlike the Kumbh Mela, in Chardham Yatra, the chances of a large number of people congregating at one place is less and scope of controlling and managing the pilgrims who travel in small groups is more.

The Associations asked for soft loans from the government with at least five years repayment period; auto-renewal of all licenses, fitness certificates, etc. for the transport sector; subsistence assistance of INR 10,000 for all the workers including drivers, guides, tour operators, travel agents, etc. and priority vaccination of the frontline staff of the travel, tourism and hospitality sector.

The Haridwar- Dehradun march was organized jointly by the Hotel Association of Haridwar; Taxi-Maxi Transporters, Haridwar; Tour Travel Association of Uttarakhand; and Panchpuri Tempo Traveller Association.
