The situation was not as good as in previous years but there were still a lot of tourists. Almost the entire region depends on tourism and people were struggling to make ends meet. It was a huge relief to see tourists return. The situation may improve as we approach Winters,” said Abhay.

It showed that with significant week-on-week travel booking growth, travelers including young couples and a group of friends are set to take leisure trips to the Hills during this year's Diwali break.

During October, the booking trends showed 30-40 percent higher check-ins for long-weekend than other weekends, with many making compulsive bookings within 72 hours of travel or less.

In 2015, Abhay Sharma, Founder Pahadi House, did take an initiative to connect the vacant houses in the village with tourism and named it 'Pahadi House'. Under this, he leased two houses lying in ruins at Kanatal and Chaupadiyal villages (Mussoorie-Chamba road) of Tehri Garhwal. Then decorated and decorated these houses in their own way.

We are happy that, many people have already started following our footprints as they have started working on their old ancestor homes and turning them into a Homestay like Garhwal House, Pahadi Homes, said, Abhay Sharma.

Keeping that in mind, we have started a "Pahadi Development Foundation" to help these Homestays in marketing and advertising and to create employment in the Hills, Sharma added.
