During the last two months, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services, and shopping malls in the state are open with permission to serve liquor in restaurants and rooms of hotels but the bars in hotels, shopping malls and multiplexes have not yet been allowed to open.
“ Almost all the economic and commercial activities have been allowed to recommence in the state and it is proposed that bars in hotels, shopping malls, and multiplexes located in areas outside containment zones may also be allowed to open,” said directions issued by the home department. As per the guidelines issued to the deputy commissioners for reopening of more activities in areas outside containment zones, it has been recalled that it was on May 30 that the ministry of home affairs had allowed hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality services and shopping malls to open from June 8, it was with a stipulation that while liquor can be served in the restaurants and rooms of hotels, the bars will have to be kept closed.
