With Unlock 4.0 in place, Bengalureans made most of the ease of restrictions by traveling to their favorite weekend getaways. Homestays, resorts, and hotels in the popular hill stations of Kodagu and Chikamagaluru reported a high footfall during the last weekend.
“During the weekend we had full occupancy; all five rooms at our property were occupied by guests from Bengaluru. We are following all the guidelines which have been issued by the government and only accepting direct bookings or those made through travel agents. Bookings made through online travel agents are not being accepted for the time being,” said Revati Iyer, owner of Silver Brook Estate.
Registered homestays are permitted to have only five rooms as per rules. Another homestay owner said that earlier, there were inquiries coming in, but now they have started to convert to bookings.
“There are two types of people who come here during the weekend: the ones who check in to homestays and unwind on the premises and the tourists who visit the tourist spots. Lodges are also witnessing an increase in footfalls,” said the homestay owner.
Antony, manager at Coorg Evergreen County said that the occupancy rate during the weekend was 30 percent and in the coming days it is expected to go up to 70-80 percent.
