The Union Tourism Minister, Prahlad Singh Patel will meet the trade association heads and leaders of the travel, tourism and hospitality sector on a virtual platform next week.

The Union Tourism Minister, Prahlad Singh Patel will meet the trade association heads and leaders of the travel, tourism and hospitality sector on a virtual platform next week to chalk out the revival plans of the sector which has been on the receiving end due to the global pandemic. According to sources in the Tourism Ministry, the meetings will be held on three days between August 10 and 13 for two hours each day.

Sources said that the objective is broad consultation with the stakeholders and take their inputs for the revival of the sector.

As per the information, the Tourism Minister will chair the meeting of the travel trade associations like IATO, ADTOI, ATOAI, etc. on the first day, August 10th. An IATO source confirmed the meeting invitation.

Similarly, the Tourism Minister will Chair the meeting of the Hospitality and Wellness sector stakeholders on August 11. Association heads of FHRAI, HAI, IHHA, Homestay owners, top executives of the leading hotel groups like IHCL, ITC, the Oberoi, Lemon Tree Hotels, OYO, are also invited to the meeting.

The Tourism Minister will also have meetings with industry bodies like FICCI, CII, Medical Tourism sector stakeholders, on the subsequent days.

The Tourism Ministry had started interactions with the industry associations in recent weeks at the official level. In one of the meetings this week, the MICE stakeholders under ICPB had asked for the phased opening of the event business by extending permissions for the opening of hotels.
