On the initiative of District Magistrate Swati S Bhadauria, the Government Home Stay has been started in the Chamoli district. Through which local people will be given employment. As part of the scheme, the first Government Home Stay in the Pahadi style at Jilasu is ready to welcome guests. The responsibility of its operation has been given to Ma Chandika Autonomous Cooperative Group associated with the integrated livelihood project. It is only on this magnificent initiative of the District Magistrate that a government homestay called "Bakhli" (a long row hill house) is started in the district.
In due course, thousands of people will get employment under this scheme. The District Magistrate had allocated the budget to the Tourism Department for this from the district plan in the last financial year. A beautiful two-room homestay has been prepared by the tourism department here in the Pahari style. In which four people can stay in a day. Ma Chandika Autonomous Cooperative Group has been given the responsibility for its operation. To promote agro-based tourism, a homestay has been prepared in Jilasu.
The special thing is that this will also provide employment to local people and the market for sale of local products. Tourists visiting here will also be familiar with the traditional hill farming in and around Jilasu, Langasu, and will be able to purchase local products from the growth center. A special menu of mountain cuisine has been prepared for the tourists at Home Stay. Here, tourists can enjoy mountain dishes like mandwa roti, chaisa, phanu, buttermilk, Badri-ghee, local lentils and vegetables, til chutney, etc.
Local people will be able to earn a good livelihood by selling their local products through the Growth Center here. District Tourism Development Officer Vrijendra Pandey informed that the registration of homestay will be done soon in the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council. Jilasu is a beautiful village on the banks of river Nandprayag, about 8 km from Karnprayag on the Badrinath National Highway. Here the beautiful and bird's eye view of the Alaknanda River is seen. The district administration has made arrangements for the Panchkarma facility and meditation center at the Rural Haat, Ayurveda Hospital here and river beach is also being beautified here.
